We only remember one thing from our school days – two if you count an episode with an M&M, but you probably wouldn’t – and that is that energy cannot be created nor destroyed , only converted from one form to another.
We remember this because we knew that if we could disprove it, we need never attend another physics class. We were only foiled by the ridiculous invention that is “potential energy”
It’s a bit like “clean mud”, “dry water” or “friendly bus driver” : Theoretically it could exist, but everyone knows it doesn’t
Or so thought we.
Murakami Chair by Rochus Jacob may force us to rethink our opinion.
Winner of the “Green Life” competition run by designboom the rocking motion of the Murakami Chair powers the lamp.
An ingenuity made possible by advances in nano-dynamo technology – and potential energy which charges the integral battery during the day.
Aside from the obvious visual appeal, the ability to generate your own electricity makes the Murakami Chair one of the most truly innovative projects we have seen this year.
We just hope its comfortable.
And that it rocks smoothly.
Murakami Chair. Proves Mr Redman was possibly telling the truth all along.
